This is my 3rd oven, never have had a problem, but this one does the gal was helpful and ran a diagnostic on it, and it was decided it has a problem, so they are sending me a new oven , that is good costumer relations!

New machine with lots of problems

I have been on the phone with your customer service for most of yesterday after receiving a new Breville espresso. I talked with a host of people, and none could identify why the problems were occurring nor how to adjust or fix them. I was told I had to send the machine back (bought through Amazon). I live on an island in Maine, so driving to a UPS would mean spending most of the day driving to the city and returning. I asked them to have UPS pick the machine up at my home, as they come on the island. There was no positive response to my request, and they simply sent me several return forms for shipping.
I called Amazon, and they would not refund my money or correct the problem, as their relationship with Breville doesn't permit them to do much besides plan a 'call back to me' sometime over this next weekend in hopes that they were able to get Breville on the phone and request a refund. Nothing has happened thus far.
The machine itself (I have tried it several times) has a major problem with grinding. The grinder doesn't automatically stop when a certain volume is met... It just keeps on going and overflowing. In addition, the pressure gauge only moves occasionally, and when it does, it only goes to the first line of pre-infusion. I've tried to change the volume of water drop as it is inconsistent but have been unable to get anywhere. The level fluctuates from singles going from 44.7g to 64.8g and the doubles varying from 29.3 to 84.8g. I haven't even had the opportunity to use the machine as it is meant to be used - to make espresso.
Obviously, not a machine I had hoped for or could use. It would be best for me if you simply refunded my money rather than drawing out miserable attempts at making espresso.

It was an unproductive conversation with the representative. I explained the issue I had. We began going through some troubleshooting steps. The call went in the wrong direction when the representative settled that the issue was that I needed to add more water via the custom water selection. I tried to explain that if I set a triple shot water setting and only get a little over 1 oz of extraction, there is an issue. I have adjusted the grind size to 19-20, which minimally gives more extraction but produces a highly sour shot. I was told, "That's just the way it is." There was no place in the conversation to get into the fact that the remainder of the water was being pushed into the overflow reservoir. I have to empty a lot of water from the reservoir. I don't believe my machine is operating correctly. I do believe it is not getting to the 9-bar pressure to extract properly. The pressure relief setting may be set too low, causing an under-extraction and pushing the water into the reservoir, causing the small shots. When the grind setting is set to the default of 15 or less, the yield is less than 1 oz. I would like to resolve the issue. I will make another call to customer service to try to resolve the issue. If we can't identify a resolution, I will be returning my machine. I have used my exact machine and gotten excellent results. What I am experiencing with my particular machine is not consistent with what I have experienced in other machines. I am very unsatisfied with my machine's performance; ultimately, I cannot drink the coffee it produces. I have done extensive research on troubleshooting my issue, multiple types of bean and grind settings to affect a different yield, and have had no success. At that point, I reached out to customer service.
